A school without teachers is coming to Oklahoma, in the United States
Alpha School, a private school network, has announced that it will open new campuses in the state starting in August. Annual tuition is about US$40,000.
The educational model is different from the traditional one: students spend about two hours a day studying core subjects on a computer using the school's artificial intelligence platform. The rest of the day is devoted to projects, workshops, and hands-on activities.
Instead of teachers, the school employs guides, who monitor students' progress, provide support and mentoring, but do not teach the academic content.
The company claims that this model speeds up learning and delivers excellent results.
