Present Tenses

  1. Simple Present

    • Idea: Regular actions or general truths.
    • Structure: Subject + base form of the verb.
    • Example: "She walks to school."
  2. Present Continuous

    • Idea: Ongoing actions happening now.
    • Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "I am reading a book."
  3. Present Perfect

    • Idea: Actions completed at some point before now.
    • Structure: Subject + has/have + past participle.
    • Example: "He has finished his homework."
  4. Present Perfect Continuous

    • Idea: Actions that started in the past and continue to the present.
    • Structure: Subject + has/have been + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "I have been studying for three hours."

Past Tenses

  1. Simple Past

    • Idea: Completed actions in the past.
    • Structure: Subject + past form of the verb.
    • Example: "He visited his grandmother."
  2. Past Continuous

    • Idea: Ongoing actions in the past.
    • Structure: Subject + was/were + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "She was watching TV."
  3. Past Perfect

    • Idea: Actions completed before another past action.
    • Structure: Subject + had + past participle.
    • Example: "They had left before I arrived."
  4. Past Perfect Continuous

    • Idea: Ongoing actions that were happening before another past action.
    • Structure: Subject + had been + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "They had been waiting for an hour."

Future Tenses

  1. Simple Future

    • Idea: Actions that will happen.
    • Structure: Subject + will + base form of the verb.
    • Example: "They will travel to Paris."
  2. Future Continuous

    • Idea: Ongoing actions that will happen in the future.
    • Structure: Subject + will be + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "They will be playing soccer."
  3. Future Perfect

    • Idea: Actions that will be completed before a specified future time.
    • Structure: Subject + will have + past participle.
    • Example: "She will have graduated by next year."
  4. Future Perfect Continuous

    • Idea: Ongoing actions that will continue up to a specified future time.
    • Structure: Subject + will have been + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "She will have been working here for five years."

Conditional Tenses

  1. Conditional Simple

    • Idea: Hypothetical actions that could occur under specific conditions.
    • Structure: Subject + would + base verb.
    • Example: "She would go to the party if she were invited."
  2. Conditional Progressive (Conditional Continuous)

    • Idea: Ongoing hypothetical actions that could happen under certain conditions.
    • Structure: Subject + would be + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "I would be studying now if I hadn’t gone out."
  3. Conditional Perfect

    • Idea: Hypothetical actions that would have been completed under certain past conditions.
    • Structure: Subject + would have + past participle.
    • Example: "They would have arrived earlier if the train hadn’t been delayed."
  4. Conditional Perfect Progressive (Conditional Perfect Continuous)

    • Idea: Ongoing hypothetical actions that would have been happening up to a point in the past.
    • Structure: Subject + would have been + verb + -ing.
    • Example: "She would have been working here for five years if she hadn’t left."
